Here in Toronto for another hour.

What day is it?  Let’s do the math… So today is another beautiful day in Toronto Canada. My train leaves in another 2 hours back to Windsor Ontario. Then from there back across the border into Detroit, Michigan. Went to the Toronto Blue Jays game yesterday. A 1:10 pm start was nice. A beautiful stadium and a near sellout crowd. It was kids’ day at the ballpark so you can imagine what that was like. How cool to get out of school for a day at a major league ballgame. I don’t ever remember hearing of that when I was a kid, but then I was from a smaller town in Montana U.S.A. so I guess it could have happened in the bigger cities. The Blue Jays won 3-1.  I would have gone to the game the night before, but my train arrived 45 minutes late pulling into Toronto, so I decided to check into my hotel (Fairmont Royal York) and just walk the city for a bit. The history of the Fairmont Royal York hotel is incredible. (I’ll read about in on the train ride back to Windsor). It’s not often I would stay in such a high-class place. The cost alone is more than my budget should/would allow. The beauty of staying in a one-of-a-kind place is that the location itself is nice as well. ten minutes to the water by walking, 5 minutes to the CN Tower by walking and 8 minutes to the Rogers Centre (home of the Blue Jays). I suppose I could try and justify staying at the Fairmont because I never used any transportation while I was in Toronto. Which is to say I walked everywhere. I stay in better shape while traveling because of all the walking. I did however take a short ferry ride to and from Hanlan’s Point Beach. The view of the City of Toronto from the ferry is worth it. I thought the train ride would be a little nicer because of my previous rides on trains (mainly San Diego to Los Angelos and back a few times) in the past. No worries though. The luxury of not having to deal with my car and parking etc. was worth it. Plus, my train departs from across the street from my hotel. Union Station in downtown Toronto. The term Location, location, location. could not be more appropriate. So the day before the Train Ride to Toronto I stayed in Windsor (across the River from Detroit). A chance to go over the Ambassador Bridge (The largest international suspension in the world, 7500 feet). Now back to Detroit and then onto Washington D.C.  I think.

A shout out to my drinking buddy Sean, from Ireland. I now have 3 major league ballparks left… St. Louis, Houston and Tampa Bay.

all for now. thanks for reading.
