Born and raised in Missoula, Montana in 1961, (that’s right I’m 56 years old), I’ve been a small business owner all my life, first a landscaping business and later an Airport Shuttler business. Over the last 30 years I’ve been fortunate to travel to many parts of the world that interested me and serve my country too. I was honorably discharged from the U.S. ARMY in 1986. Transitioning back into civilian life and managing my own business were easy for me as it allowed me to make the most of the life God had given me.I spent the winter of 1990 on the Bering Sea on a 185 foot commercial crab boat, 80 miles from Siberia for over a 100 days learning how harsh life can be. After that adventure I returned to Seattle, WA where I enrolled in broadcasting school. After graduation, I came back to Missoula where I took a job at KLCY and KYSS radio as a D.J. Later, I worked in sports radio as a play by play announcer for KGRZ , calling boys and girls basketball games, the state tournament and the Montana AA State Championship game. I also tried my luck at Stand-up Comedy at the The IMPROV and The Comedy Store on Sunset Strip in the early 8O’s. More recently, I returned to the ocean where I acquired my Commercial lobster fishing license working out of San Diego CA in the Fall of 2015.
I have a mom and a dad, a brother and sister, an aunt and uncle, a brother and sister-in-law and a niece and nephew. Who do you suppose is the “Black Sheep” in this family?
Over the years, I’ve traveled from Paris to Hong Kong and many places in between I’ve tended bar and waited tables all over the place and enjoyed every minute of it! I’ve lived in Calif., Texas, Idaho, Arizona, Washington , Montana and Germany. There’s one thing I haven’t done and that’s live The Ultimate Year…..until now! Enjoy the ride.
Thanks, John Kelly
